December 2027 Flying Star Forecast: Long-Form Writing in the Center

December's chart runs from 4:37 p.m. on December 7, 2027, to 3:54 a.m. on January 6, 2028, China time (UTC+8). The year's stars and afflictions stay where they have been since February, so the North keeps the year's 5 Yellow, and the limits on building work hold until Li Chun on February 4, 2028.

The month's 5 Yellow moves into the Northwest, which drops to Caution after a Favorable November. The central room goes the other way: Caution last month, Favorable now, with the month's 4 beside the year's 9.

Three rooms lead this month. The South has the month's 8 and the year's 4, the Southwest has the year's 6 and the month's 1, and the central room is the place for sustained writing and study. The North receives the month's 9, but the year's 5 there keeps it a room to leave alone.

Every building shares this chart and has one of its own as well; the Flying Star calculator works yours out from its facing direction and the year it was built or you moved in.

Favorable: put it to use · Mixed: use it, mind the cautions · Caution: keep it still, clean, and lit

This year each sector's Annual star is the same number as its Period star.

Annual disturbance directions for 2027

  • Tai Sui (Grand Duke) — 未 / SW1: 202.5°–217.5°
  • Sui Po (Year Breaker) — 丑 / NE1: 22.5°–37.5°
  • San Sha (Three Killings) — 申 (Southwest) / SW3: 232.5°–247.5°; 酉 (West) / W2: 262.5°–277.5°; 戌 (Northwest) / NW1: 292.5°–307.5°

These mark cautions for optional drilling, digging, and demolition. Necessary safety work takes priority.

Where is each sector in my home or workplace?

Works and repairs. Elective construction, meaning anything that opens walls, floors, or the ground, belongs nowhere near these five sectors this month: the Southwest (Tai Sui and San Sha), the Northeast (Sui Po), the West (San Sha), the Northwest (San Sha and the month's 5 Yellow), and the North (the year's 5 Yellow). Tai Sui is the Grand Duke, Sui Po the Year Breaker, and San Sha the Three Killings. All of these limits are year-long and run until Li Chun [立春] on February 4, 2028, except the Northwest's 5 Yellow, which leaves when this window closes on January 6; the Northwest's San Sha keeps works out after that. A necessary repair comes first, wherever it falls.

Southeast Mixed

Period 8 (retiring) · Annual 8 · Monthly 3

  • This month: Give the Southeast short money chores you can do alone, and hold arguments and anything easily mislaid somewhere else.
  • Watch for: Conflict & lawsuits · Theft & loss

The month brings the 3 Jade [三碧] into the Southeast. Wood is the 3's own element, so here it works at its strongest, and a 3 stirs up disputes and lets things go missing. That makes this the wrong room for a tense phone call or for leaving a wallet on a side table.

The year's 8 White [八白] remains a money star in this room. Give the 8 something brief and solitary: go through a year of card statements, cancel the subscriptions nobody opens, and leave.

South Favorable

Period 4 (untimely) · Annual 4 · Monthly 8

  • This month: Use the South freely, for sorting out plans with your household and for reading at the quiet end of the day.

December is the South's third Favorable month in a row and the last for now, since January's chart turns it to Caution. Put it to work before January's chart closes it.

The month's 8 carries the room. The South's Fire feeds the 8, so the star comes in stronger than usual. Sit down here with a co-parent to settle who has the children on which days of the school break, or plan the drive to see relatives with everyone who'll be in the car.

The year's 4 Green [四绿] stays on as a helpful star for study. A stack of library books for the holidays belongs on a shelf in this room.

Southwest Favorable

Period 6 (untimely) · Annual 6 · Monthly 1

  • This month: Use the Southwest to prepare your next step at work and to take charge of a group you now lead, and leave its structure alone.

The month's 1 White [一白] brings career work into the room. It suits the first-week plan for a job you start in January, or the plan for a client you take on in the new year.

Authority and standing belong to the year's 6 White [六白]. If you've just been elected to run a hiking club or a book group, the first agenda gets written here.

Tai Sui and San Sha both sit in the Southwest for the year, so a planned renovation that opens up the room's shell waits for the year to turn; an urgent repair goes ahead.

This is a short window. The Southwest stays Favorable into January, and the chart then turns it to Caution for at least the six months that follow.

East Caution

Period 7 (untimely) · Annual 7 · Monthly 2

  • This month: Treat the East as a room to pass through, and if you sleep there, keep it peaceful.
  • Watch for: Health · Family & people · Injury & accidents

Two difficult stars share the East and no good star sits with them. The month's 2 Black [二黑] is tied to illness and strain at home. Sharp words, accidents, and loss belong to the other, the year's 7 Red [七赤].

Walk through, collect what you need, and do the longer jobs elsewhere. If a bedroom sits here, keep it plain and restful, with a clear path across the floor for the night. Keeping your time in the East short narrows what these two stars can reach without taking the risk away.

Center Favorable

Period 9 (reigning) · Annual 9 · Monthly 4

  • This month: Make the central room the home of any long piece of writing or study, and of one small occasion worth marking.

This is the room where a long text gets its hours. The month's 4 is a study star, and the work it favors runs long: the middle chapters of a dissertation, a grant proposal due in January, or the family history you keep meaning to finish.

The year's 9 Purple [九紫] belongs to celebrations and honors. Mark a cousin's nursing qualification here with a small dinner. The 9 is the swiftest of the nine stars, and whatever it brings shows up in one stretch, not spread thin across the weeks.

Free of both the 5 Yellow and the year's afflictions, the central room is the traditional place for a refresh if one is on your list.

West Mixed

Period 2 (growing) · Annual 2 · Monthly 6

  • This month: Use the West for short sessions where you have the final say, and don't let it become anyone's daily station.
  • Watch for: Health · Family & people

The year's 2 sits in the West, and it bears on illness and on friction at home, so nobody should settle in here for hours.

San Sha holds the West all year. Construction that disturbs the structure is off the table until Li Chun, though a broken window gets fixed.

The month's 6 is the reason to come in at all. Metal is the 6's own element, so it carries its full weight in this room. Give a junior colleague their year-end review here, or set out the terms when you take over a shared project.

Northeast Caution

Period 3 (untimely) · Annual 3 · Monthly 7

  • This month: Let the Northeast hold things rather than people.
  • Watch for: Injury & accidents · Theft & loss · Conflict & lawsuits

Earth is the element that feeds the month's 7, so in this room the star's edge is keener than in most. The year's 3 adds quarrels and missing things.

Sui Po is the year's affliction in the Northeast, which rules out digging or knocking through here; mend anything broken before it gets worse.

Give the room the spare chairs, the toolbox, and the holiday decorations once they come down.

North Caution

Period 5 (untimely) · Annual 5 · Monthly 9

  • This month: Leave the North unused; the month's visitor is not enough to reopen it.
  • Watch for: Health · Family & people

Since May at the latest, the North has been a Caution sector, and January holds that line before February moves it to Mixed. The year's 5 Yellow [五黄] is the cause, since a 5 does harm wherever it lands.

If the North is a hallway or landing you can't avoid, cross it and keep going. Its walls and floors stay untouched by renovation for the rest of the year, though real damage gets mended.

The month's 9 is auspicious and pushes back against the 5 to a degree. Here the 9 stands opposite its home [衝], so it gives less than it would elsewhere, and the room stays one to leave alone.

Northwest Caution

Period 1 (rising) · Annual 1 · Monthly 5

  • This month: Keep the Northwest in good order and use it only when you must, briefly and without fuss.
  • Watch for: Health · Family & people

This is the room the month's 5 Yellow picks, and that decides it. The year's 1, a career star, counts against the 5 without cancelling it.

Put things back where they belong, fix the drawer that sticks, and keep the surfaces clear, so that the room asks nothing of you when you do step in. Read the 5's tie to health as a reminder to look after yourself in ordinary ways, like enough sleep over the holidays and a doctor's visit for anything that worries you; it is not a diagnosis.

Two limits overlap here. The month's 5 Yellow leaves on January 6, and the year's San Sha stays until Li Chun, so elective building work waits for both while a needed repair does not.

How to use this forecast

Use the good rooms, leave the cautious ones still. The classical texts treat activity as an amplifier: a good sector gives nothing until it is used, and a caution sector does no harm until it is disturbed. Where two caution stars share a sector, keeping it quiet lowers the risk without removing it. By the same logic, a busy room, at home or at work, with people, pets, and conversation, counts as use.

When a room can't move. A desk or a bed is not always easy to move. If yours sits in a Caution sector, keep it tidy and quiet, spend less time there where you can, and take the work that matters to a Favorable room.

Your own building's stars. This chart is the same for every home and workplace. Yours has its own stars, set by when it was built and which way it faces, and they decide where water, a stove, or a bed belongs.

The era. We are in Period 9 (2024–2043). Its reigning star is the 9 and its rising star the 1, which is why each sector's Period star carries a label such as reigning, rising, or retiring. The year's and month's stars on this page are read by their own natures, not by the period.

How to find each sector in your home or workplace
  1. Mark the middle of your whole floor plan. That area is the Center.
  2. Stand there with a compass, or a phone compass held away from metal and appliances, and find North.
  3. Each of the eight directions covers a 45° slice running out from the Center, 22.5° either side of its compass point.
  4. Note which rooms fall in each slice: bedrooms, desks, offices, the main door, the kitchen, a counter or till. Those are the rooms each sector section on this page is talking about.

The diagram uses the chart's orientation, South at the top. Tai Sui, Sui Po, and San Sha are narrower: Tai Sui and Sui Po each cover one 15° mountain, San Sha three, all listed under the chart at the top.

Treat the sector guidance as traditional planning symbolism. It does not replace medical, safety, legal, or financial advice, and urgent repairs or care should never be delayed for a symbolic timing preference.
