September had the Southeast among the better sectors, and November will again. October is the gap between them. The 5 Yellow [五黄] moves in for the month, and it does harm wherever it lands.

The year's 8 White [八白] remains, a star of money and family, and it blunts some of the 5's harm. The Southeast's Wood holds the 8 back, though, so this month it can't carry the room. Walk through, fetch what you need, and take the desk work and the long conversations somewhere else. The month's 5 Yellow keeps optional works out until the window closes late on November 7, though a burst pipe or a broken lock gets fixed regardless.

South Favorable

October starts the South on a Favorable run that lasts through December, the longest good stretch on this page, so it's worth setting the room up properly now.

The month's 1 White [一白] governs career, the ongoing work of a job done day by day. Placed opposite its home [衝], the 1 gives the South a smaller push than it would elsewhere, so bring steady work here and expect no shortcuts. A laptop set up for the long evenings before a year-end deadline is the right kind of use.

The year's 4 Green [四绿] lends its help to study. The long piece you've been putting off, a grant report or a chapter of a family history, belongs on this table.

Nothing in the South calls for a hold on works, neither the 5 Yellow nor any of the year's afflictions, so it is the traditional place for a refresh if one is already on your list.

Southwest Mixed

This month the 3 Jade [三碧] comes in, a star of quarrels, theft, and loss. It works against the Southwest's Earth, and that effort costs it strength, so it troubles the room less than it would in a sector that fed it. Write the case here in quiet; the 3 makes this a poor room for the argument itself. Close the room when you leave it, with anything valuable out of plain view.

Tai Sui and San Sha occupy the Southwest all year, so structural work stays out; an urgent repair is the exception.

East Mixed

The 4 Green is the reason to use the East in October. It matches the sector's Wood, so the star of study is at full strength in this room. Working through practice questions for a driving theory test, cards spread across a table, is the kind of work the room is for.

The year's 7 Red [七赤] is the other resident, a malefic star of accidents, theft, and arguments. Keep the floor clear of anything to trip on, and don't leave a wallet or phone lying out.

Center Favorable

Period 9 (reigning) · Annual 9 · Monthly 6

• This month: Hold the month's occasions in the central room, and use it for conversations that set out who answers to whom.

Nothing difficult visits the central room this month. The year's 9 Purple [九紫] rules celebrations and honors. A costume night on October 31, with the furniture pushed back to make room, is the sort of evening it favors. The 9 is the swiftest of all the stars, and what it stirs comes in a single burst, not by degrees.

The month's 6 White brings authority. A first sit-down with someone who has just started reporting to you, where you lay out what you expect of them, suits the central room.

West Caution

A bedroom in the West can stay a bedroom this month. Let it hold the bed and not much more: no work set up on the nightstand, no evening errands spread across the covers.

The year's 2 Black [二黑] is the reason, an inauspicious star of illness and strain between relatives. The month's 8 White visits with money and family, and it eases the 2's hold on the room. One month's visitor doesn't turn the room around.

While San Sha is in the West this year, nothing gets knocked through or dug up there; save the drill for real repairs.

Northeast Mixed

Recognition comes into the Northeast with the month's 9 Purple. A dinner to mark a colleague's new professional license, a toast and an early night, fits the room.

The year's 3 Jade has been here since February, a troublesome star of quarrels and loss, and it doesn't leave when the guests arrive. Invite people who get along, steer the talk away from old grievances, and end the evening before it runs late.

No new openings in the Northeast's walls and no lifting of its floor while Sui Po sits here this year; work that can't wait goes ahead.

North Caution

• This month: Leave the North as close to unused as you can manage, and keep it in good order.

No sector has had a harder year. The North has been Caution every month since at least March, and the verdict runs on into January 2028 or beyond.

The year's 5 Yellow is the most harmful of the nine stars, and it holds this sector for the whole annual window. This month the 2 Black moves in, with its own pull toward illness and family strain. Staying out of the room cuts how much of that reaches anyone; it doesn't make the stars go away.

Treat the 2's and the 5's link to illness as a reason to keep up with sleep and routine checkups, not as a reading of anyone's health. Dust the North, check that its windows latch, and close the door behind you. Its year-long limit on building work holds; fix what leaks or breaks.

Northwest Mixed

The month's 7 Red matches the Northwest's Metal, so this month it is as strong as it gets. Its risks are the cut finger, the dropped glass, and the remark that starts a row. Keep your visits to solo work, and keep group calls for a room without the 7.

Leave the Northwest's walls and floors intact while San Sha is there, unless something needs mending.
