August 2027 Flying Star Forecast: A First Piano Recital in the Northwest
The August chart takes over at 1:26 a.m. on August 8, 2027, and hands over to September's at 4:28 a.m. on September 8 (Beijing time, UTC+8).
The month's 5 Yellow lands in the Southwest. That sector already holds Tai Sui and one of the year's three San Sha mountains, so the room the year hems in most now carries the month's most difficult star as well. The year's 5 Yellow stays where it has been since February, in the North.
The central room leads, with the year's 9 and the month's 8, and the Northwest follows with the 1 and the 9. Two rooms change direction: the Southeast, Favorable since May, turns Caution, while the West climbs out of Caution to Mixed on the strength of the month's 1.

Annual disturbance directions for 2027
- Tai Sui (Grand Duke) — 未 / SW1: 202.5°–217.5°
- Sui Po (Year Breaker) — 丑 / NE1: 22.5°–37.5°
- San Sha (Three Killings) — 申 (Southwest) / SW3: 232.5°–247.5°; 酉 (West) / W2: 262.5°–277.5°; 戌 (Northwest) / NW1: 292.5°–307.5°
These mark cautions for optional drilling, digging, and demolition. Necessary safety work takes priority.
Works and repairs. Building work you could put off, anything that cuts into the structure or digs below it, waits this month in five sectors: the Southwest (Tai Sui, San Sha, and the month's 5 Yellow), the Northeast (Sui Po), the West (San Sha), the Northwest (San Sha), and the North (the year's 5 Yellow). Tai Sui is the Grand Duke, Sui Po the Year Breaker, and San Sha the Three Killings; they govern when to build, not what any star means. Every one of these limits lasts the whole Flying Star year, to February 4, 2028, except the month's 5 Yellow, which leaves the Southwest on September 8 while Tai Sui and San Sha keep that sector closed to works. A necessary repair in any of them is done first.
Southeast Caution
Period 8 (retiring) · Annual 8 · Monthly 7
- This month: Give the Southeast a month off, with no regular job in it: the month's 7 has the upper hand over a held-back 8.
- Watch for: Injury & accidents · Theft & loss · Conflict & lawsuits
The 7 Red [七赤] brings the Southeast's change of mood. It is a malefic star of injuries, thefts, and sharp exchanges, and this month it is the louder of the room's two stars.
The Southeast's Wood holds back the year's 8 White [八白], and a held-back 8 can't carry the room against the 7. So let the chair by the window sit empty for a few weeks and let the shelves keep what they hold. A room with nothing asked of it is the plainest way through August here.
South Mixed
Period 4 (untimely) · Annual 4 · Monthly 3
- This month: Use the South for reading and writing, and settle no disputes there.
- Watch for: Conflict & lawsuits · Theft & loss
The South is a room for the page this month. Late summer is when a student gets ahead on the fall semester's reading list, or a writer works through the second draft of a long piece, and the year's 4 Green [四绿], the sector's star of learning, backs both.
The month's 3 Jade [三碧] is the other side of the room. It is an afflictive star of arguments and small losses, so a dispute with a landlord or a contractor is better not had at this desk. Spare keys, a passport, and anything else you would hate to hunt for go back to their place once you've used them.
Southwest Caution
Period 6 (untimely) · Annual 6 · Monthly 5
- This month: Leave the Southwest unused this month, and if you must go in, keep the visit brief and quiet: the month's most difficult star has joined the year's afflictions there.
- Watch for: Health · Family & people
Of the nine rooms, the Southwest has the heaviest month. The 5 Yellow [五黄] comes in on top of Tai Sui and San Sha, and the 5 does harm wherever it lands.
The year's 6 White [六白], an auspicious star of rank and say, blunts the 5, though not enough to make this a room to work in. Read the 5's ties to health and to the people at home as a nudge toward the usual good habits, such as a full night's sleep or the checkup you were due for anyway; they diagnose nothing.
Renovation that can wait does wait here, for the rest of this Flying Star year; a leak or a broken lock that can't is the exception.
East Caution
Period 7 (untimely) · Annual 7 · Monthly 6
- This month: Keep the East clean, clear, and in good repair until its Caution run ends with September.
- Watch for: Injury & accidents · Theft & loss · Conflict & lawsuits
For the East, June through September is one Caution run, and August sits in the middle of it. The year's 7 Red [七赤] is the reason the East keeps landing on Caution, a star of accidents, theft, and sharp words.
This month the 6 White [六白] joins it, a benefic star for position and authority. The 6 eases the 7 without outweighing it, so upkeep is the job here. Fix the loose shelf bracket, wind up the extension cords, and put the box cutter back in its drawer once the parcel is open.
Center Favorable
Period 9 (reigning) · Annual 9 · Monthly 8
- This month: Do the month's accounts and hold one occasion in the central room: the month's 8 matches the room's Earth.
This is the last of three Favorable months in a row for the central room, and September turns Caution, so August is the time to use it.
That match leaves the 8 White [八白] at its strongest here. It is a fortunate star for money and for the people you share a home with, so checking the summer's receipts against the bank statements, or sitting down to plan who covers which bill next year, sits well on a table in this room.
The 9 Purple [九紫] is the year's star, a lucky one for occasions and for recognition. A thank-you lunch for the neighbors who ran a summer program for the local kids is a good fit.
The Center carries neither 5 Yellow nor any of the year's afflictions, which makes it the usual place to schedule a refresh, if one is on your list.
West Mixed
Period 2 (growing) · Annual 2 · Monthly 1
- This month: Give the West focused work on a client pitch, in sessions with a clear end, and leave the room empty in between.
- Watch for: Health · Family & people
The West's Metal feeds the month's 1 White [一白], and that is what lifts the room from Caution to Mixed. The 1 is an auspicious star of career, and a well-fed 1 is a strong one. Drafting the proposal you plan to put to a larger client fits here.
The year's 2 Black [二黑] hasn't gone anywhere. It is an afflictive star of illness and of strain between the people at home, which is why the work comes in, gets done, and leaves the room empty again.
San Sha holds the West for the year, so an elective knock-through or a new floor stays off the plans; fixing what has broken comes before any of that.
Northeast Caution
Period 3 (untimely) · Annual 3 · Monthly 2
- This month: Turn the Northeast over to storage: neither of its stars has a good side.
- Watch for: Health · Family & people · Conflict & lawsuits
The 2 Black [二黑] arrives for the month and matches the Northeast's Earth, which leaves it at full strength as a star of illness and strain at home. The year's 3 Jade [三碧] adds arguments and losses.
Let the room hold paint cans, the camping gear, and the folding chairs, and go in only to fetch them. A room left to its shelves gives the two stars less to act on, though it doesn't send them away.
Sui Po sits in the Northeast for the whole Flying Star year. Excavation and structural changes there stay off the list until it leaves; a fault that endangers the room is the one thing to put right.
North Caution
Period 5 (untimely) · Annual 5 · Monthly 4
- This month: Ask nothing of the North this month, and if it is a bedroom, keep it a restful one: the year's 5 Yellow is still in place.
- Watch for: Health · Family & people
The North has been Caution in every month of this Flying Star year. The 5 Yellow [五黄] has held it since February 4 and stays until February 4, 2028, so a remodel you could postpone waits as long as the 5 does.
The 4 Green [四绿] visits for the month, a helpful star for learning. It softens the 5 without cancelling it, and that doesn't turn the North into a study.
A bedroom here can stay a bedroom. Keep it for sleep, with the day's work and the overflow from other rooms kept out, and let it stay plain and calm until the year turns.
Northwest Favorable
Period 1 (rising) · Annual 1 · Monthly 9
- This month: Use the Northwest to welcome a new colleague and to stage one small recital.
The month's 9 Purple [九紫] is an auspicious star of occasions and recognition. A child's first piano recital for the grandparents, with folding chairs in rows, suits the Northwest this August. Of the nine stars the 9 is the swiftest, and its effects gather into one stretch instead of accruing, so it fits an occasion that has a date on it.
San Sha is the one limit here. Even in a good month, the year rules out elective demolition or digging in this sector, though a burst pipe gets mended.
The 1 White [一白] has been the Northwest's star all year, an auspicious one for career. Writing the first-week notes for a new hire who starts in September is desk work for this sector.
How to use this forecast
Use the good rooms, leave the cautious ones still. The classical texts treat activity as an amplifier: a good sector gives nothing until it is used, and a caution sector does no harm until it is disturbed. Where two caution stars share a sector, keeping it quiet lowers the risk without removing it. By the same logic, a busy room, at home or at work, with people, pets, and conversation, counts as use.
When a room can't move. A desk or a bed is not always easy to move. If yours sits in a Caution sector, keep it tidy and quiet, spend less time there where you can, and take the work that matters to a Favorable room.
Your own building's stars. This chart is the same for every home and workplace. Yours has its own stars, set by when it was built and which way it faces, and they decide where water, a stove, or a bed belongs.
The era. We are in Period 9 (2024–2043). Its reigning star is the 9 and its rising star the 1, which is why each sector's Period star carries a label such as reigning, rising, or retiring. The year's and month's stars on this page are read by their own natures, not by the period.
How to find each sector in your home or workplace
- Mark the middle of your whole floor plan. That area is the Center.
- Stand there with a compass, or a phone compass held away from metal and appliances, and find North.
- Each of the eight directions covers a 45° slice running out from the Center, 22.5° either side of its compass point.
- Note which rooms fall in each slice: bedrooms, desks, offices, the main door, the kitchen, a counter or till. Those are the rooms each sector section on this page is talking about.
The diagram uses the chart's orientation, South at the top. Tai Sui, Sui Po, and San Sha are narrower: Tai Sui and Sui Po each cover one 15° mountain, San Sha three, all listed under the chart at the top.
Treat the sector guidance as traditional planning symbolism. It does not replace medical, safety, legal, or financial advice, and urgent repairs or care should never be delayed for a symbolic timing preference.
