February 2027 Flying Star Forecast: Lion-Dance Afternoons in the South

February opens the 2027 chart. Li Chun [立春], the start of spring, falls at 9:46 a.m. on February 4 (China time, UTC+8), two days before Chinese New Year on February 6, so this year the solar new year comes first. At that moment the year's stars and afflictions change over, and this month's window runs until 3:39 a.m. on March 6.

For the next twelve months the North belongs to the year's 5 Yellow; until the window closes, the central room carries the month's 5 Yellow. The new year's limits on building work cover the North, Southwest, Northeast, West, and Northwest, and the callout below sets them out.

The month's 9, 8, 1, and 6 each sit in their home sector [伏], so their lift is lighter than usual. The South leads with the month's 9 for gatherings, and the Southeast and Northwest follow with two good stars each.

Your own home has a chart of its own as well, which the Flying Star calculator draws from the building's facing direction and its year.

Effective window: February 4, 2027 at 9:46 AM UTC+8 to March 6, 2027 at 3:39 AM UTC+8

February 2027 Flying Star Chart

  • Monthly
  • Annual
  • Period
  • Favorable
  • Mixed
  • Caution

Favorable: put it to use · Mixed: use it, mind the cautions · Caution: keep it still, clean, and lit

Large number: monthly star; medium: annual; small: period. Select a sector for its details.

This year each sector's Annual star is the same number as its Period star.

Annual disturbance directions for 2027

  • Tai Sui (Grand Duke) — 未 / SW1: 202.5°–217.5°
  • Sui Po (Year Breaker) — 丑 / NE1: 22.5°–37.5°
  • San Sha (Three Killings) — 申 (Southwest) / SW3: 232.5°–247.5°; 酉 (West) / W2: 262.5°–277.5°; 戌 (Northwest) / NW1: 292.5°–307.5°

These mark cautions for optional drilling, digging, and demolition. Necessary safety work takes priority.

Where is each sector in my home or workplace?

Works and repairs. Leave optional construction out of the sectors below: no knocking through walls, no taking up floors, no excavation.

  • North: the year's 5 Yellow [五黄], until February 4, 2028
  • Southwest: Tai Sui [太岁] (the Grand Duke) and San Sha [三煞] (the Three Killings), until February 4, 2028
  • Northeast: Sui Po [岁破] (the Year Breaker), until February 4, 2028
  • West and Northwest: San Sha, until February 4, 2028
  • Center: the month's 5 Yellow, for this month

A repair that cannot wait is done first in any of them.

Southeast Favorable

Period 8 (retiring) · Annual 8 · Monthly 4

  • This month: Make this the room where the month's spending and earning get worked out on paper.

Money and the people you share a roof with fall to the year's 8 White [八白]. Here the Southeast's Wood restrains the star, which makes this a room for working out figures at your own pace, not for rushed decisions. Price a quote for a client here, or sort out how the rent splits between roommates.

The month's 4 Green [四绿] lends a helpful hand with study. Draft the notes for a talk you'll give in March at this desk.

If you've been meaning to repaint or reorganize, this is the sector to do it in this month: nothing here limits works.

South Favorable

Period 4 (untimely) · Annual 4 · Monthly 9

  • This month: Host the month's gatherings here, from the Lunar New Year reunion meal to a small birthday later on.

The 9 Purple [九紫] brings occasions and recognition, and February gives it a crowded calendar: Lunar New Year visits, a lion-dance afternoon, a toast for a friend's new title. No star moves faster than the 9, and what it brings lands in a cluster instead of building over weeks. That is a description of the star, not a promise about any party.

Between gatherings, the year's 4 Green [四绿] keeps the room open for study. A weekly lesson in a new language is the kind of study it covers.

Southwest Mixed

Period 6 (untimely) · Annual 6 · Monthly 2

  • This month: Hold the one conversation that settles who decides what, then let the room go quiet.
  • Watch for: Health · Family & people

Tai Sui and San Sha share this sector until the next Li Chun [立春]. Leave out any optional project that cuts into walls, floors, or ground here, and carry out a needed repair first.

The year's 6 White [六白] bears on authority: agreeing who chairs the residents' committee, or setting house rules for a teenager with a first weekend job.

The month's 2 Black [二黑] brings illness. It matches the Southwest's Earth, which makes it stronger here. That is why the 6's business here wants a visit, not a stay.

East Caution

Period 7 (untimely) · Annual 7 · Monthly 3

  • This month: Walk in on errands and do anything that takes longer somewhere else.
  • Watch for: Conflict & lawsuits · Theft & loss · Injury & accidents

The East starts a difficult stretch this month that holds at Caution through April on the chart.

The month's 3 Jade [三碧] stirs up quarrels and things gone missing. It matches the East's Wood, so nothing here weakens it. The year's 7 Red [七赤] brings sharp speech, cuts and knocks, and theft.

Fetch a coat, drop off a parcel, and move on; a disagreement that starts here is better moved down the hall. A quiet East reduces what these two stars can do; it does not make them go away.

Center Caution

Period 9 (reigning) · Annual 9 · Monthly 5

  • This month: Keep the central room out of the month's plans, and when you need it, be brief and keep the noise down.
  • Watch for: Health · Family & people

The 5 Yellow [五黄] spends February in the center. It is the most troublesome of the stars, read for illness and for strain between the people under one roof. Treat its health side as a nudge to look after yourselves, with enough rest and a cold seen to early; it forecasts no illness.

No optional opening-up of the central room's walls or floor this month, though a repair that is needed goes ahead.

The year's 9 Purple [九紫], a fortunate star of celebrations and honors, offsets the 5 in part. It does not make this the place to gather: cross the room, eat at its table if there is no other, and send the bigger occasions to the South.

West Caution

Period 2 (growing) · Annual 2 · Monthly 7

  • This month: Keep the West in good order and start nothing new in it.
  • Watch for: Injury & accidents · Conflict & lawsuits · Health

The month's 7 Red [七赤] carries sharp words, injuries, and theft. The year's 2 Black [二黑] carries illness. Good upkeep is the answer here: knives back in the block, cables off the floor, the wobbly shelf fixed. San Sha sits in the West for the year, so no optional digging, demolition, or new openings; urgent repairs are the exception.

A well-kept room takes the edge off the two stars without removing them. If the West is a bedroom, keep sleeping there and keep work out of it, with no desk or laptop turning it into an office.

Northeast Mixed

Period 3 (untimely) · Annual 3 · Monthly 8

  • This month: Use the room for short planning sessions with family, and take any argument elsewhere.
  • Watch for: Conflict & lawsuits · Theft & loss

The month's 8 White [八白], an auspicious star, looks after money and family. Here it fits the household's arrangements: who drives the grandparents home after the New Year visit, or how the school holiday gets covered.

Sui Po falls in the Northeast this year. Optional work that opens the structure is off the table, while a fault that must be mended is mended.

The year's 3 Jade [三碧] leans toward disputes and loss. If the holiday plan turns into a quarrel, stop and pick it up later on a walk.

North Caution

Period 5 (untimely) · Annual 5 · Monthly 1

  • This month: Hand this room over to things you keep but rarely use, and spend little time in it.
  • Watch for: Health · Family & people

January was a Caution month here, and the chart holds the North at Caution until September at the earliest. The year's 5 Yellow [五黄] is the reason: it moved in at Li Chun [立春] and doesn't leave for a year. Through that stay, keep elective structural projects away from the North; urgent repairs get done.

The month's 1 White [一白], a lucky star of career, eases the 5 without changing what to do with the room. Out-of-season clothes, spare chairs, and past years' tax files are the right tenants: things kept, not used.

Northwest Favorable

Period 1 (rising) · Annual 1 · Monthly 6

  • This month: Settle who leads what in this room, and give your career tasks a seat here.

February is a single good month for the Northwest, between Caution in January and Caution again in March, so make the most of it now.

The month's 6 White [六白] speaks to authority. A review you give a new hire, or the meeting where you name who leads the spring project, fits this room.

San Sha keeps its limit on the Northwest from this Li Chun to the next, good month or not. That means no optional tearing down or digging here, though a necessary repair is made.

The year's 1 White [一白] rules career. The Northwest's Metal feeds it, which gives the room real strength for day-to-day career work: updating a portfolio, or writing the cover letter for an internal transfer.

How to use this forecast

Use the good rooms, leave the cautious ones still. The classical texts treat activity as an amplifier: a good sector gives nothing until it is used, and a caution sector does no harm until it is disturbed. Where two caution stars share a sector, keeping it quiet lowers the risk without removing it. By the same logic, a busy room, at home or at work, with people, pets, and conversation, counts as use.

When a room can't move. A desk or a bed is not always easy to move. If yours sits in a Caution sector, keep it tidy and quiet, spend less time there where you can, and take the work that matters to a Favorable room.

Your own building's stars. This chart is the same for every home and workplace. Yours has its own stars, set by when it was built and which way it faces, and they decide where water, a stove, or a bed belongs.

The era. We are in Period 9 (2024–2043). Its reigning star is the 9 and its rising star the 1, which is why each sector's Period star carries a label such as reigning, rising, or retiring. The year's and month's stars on this page are read by their own natures, not by the period.

How to find each sector in your home or workplace
  1. Mark the middle of your whole floor plan. That area is the Center.
  2. Stand there with a compass, or a phone compass held away from metal and appliances, and find North.
  3. Each of the eight directions covers a 45° slice running out from the Center, 22.5° either side of its compass point.
  4. Note which rooms fall in each slice: bedrooms, desks, offices, the main door, the kitchen, a counter or till. Those are the rooms each sector section on this page is talking about.

The diagram uses the chart's orientation, South at the top. Tai Sui, Sui Po, and San Sha are narrower: Tai Sui and Sui Po each cover one 15° mountain, San Sha three, all listed under the chart at the top.

Treat the sector guidance as traditional planning symbolism. It does not replace medical, safety, legal, or financial advice, and urgent repairs or care should never be delayed for a symbolic timing preference.
